Frequently asked
Common questions.
A working list of the questions we hear most from travel nurses, fellows, placement coordinators, and hospital HR contacts. If yours isn't here, email josbartlettco.com@josbartlettco.com.
What is the minimum lease term?
Six months. Twelve months is preferred. We will accept a 13-week travel-nurse contract paired with a written intent to extend, and we work with placement coordinators to align on assignment dates.
Is the rent fully furnished?
Yes. The advertised monthly rent includes all furniture, kitchenware, linens, towels, smart TV, and basic cleaning supplies. You only need to bring personal items and clothing.
Are utilities included?
Internet (gigabit fiber) is included. Electricity, gas, and water are billed monthly at cost — typically $120 to $180 per month for a two-bedroom unit, depending on season and usage. We send a single line-item invoice.
How does the security deposit work?
One month's rent, held in a Massachusetts-compliant interest-bearing account at a local bank, returned within 30 days of move-out per state law. We provide written receipts and a move-in condition statement.
Do you accept agency or hospital invoicing?
Yes. We have invoiced placement agencies (Aya, Cross Country, AMN, Fastaff) and hospital fellowship offices directly. We provide W-9, ACH details, and itemized monthly invoices on request.
Is parking included?
Every active listing includes a dedicated off-street parking spot. There is no extra charge. East Boston and Dorchester additionally offer street parking permits if a second vehicle is needed.
Are pets allowed?
Cats yes. Small dogs case-by-case. We do not currently permit large dogs in any unit. There is a one-time $250 pet fee plus $50 per month for a permitted pet.
Can I tour the unit before signing?
Absolutely. We offer in-person tours, FaceTime tours for out-of-state clinicians, and a self-guided smart-lock tour for trusted relocation candidates. Average response time on a tour request is same business day.
How quickly can I move in?
Most signed leases close within 72 hours. After signing, we provide smart-lock codes and a move-in packet. Same-week move-ins are possible if a unit is currently vacant.
What if my assignment ends early?
We work with you. If a clinical assignment ends early due to circumstances outside your control, we re-list the unit and pro-rate the remaining months. We do not enforce penalty clauses against clinicians acting in good faith.
Are roommates allowed?
Yes. Two-bedroom units can be leased to two unrelated tenants on a single lease, with both names on the agreement. We require both tenants to complete the standard application.
Do you do background or credit checks?
We verify identity and employment. For clinicians on a hospital or agency placement, an offer letter or contract is sufficient. We do not run credit checks for travel nurses with verified placement contracts.
Is the building shared with other tenants?
Each Bartlett residence is one unit inside a two-to-four-unit building. Other tenants may be long-term Boston residents, other Bartlett tenants, or owner-occupants. Every unit has its own private entrance and full demising walls.
What hospitals do most tenants commute to?
Mass General Hospital, Brigham & Women's, Boston Medical Center, Tufts Medical Center, Beth Israel Deaconess, Dana-Farber, and Boston Children's Hospital. Each neighborhood page lists exact transit times to each hospital.
Is the rent negotiable?
Listed rents are the rents. We occasionally offer a small discount for a twelve-month lease versus a six-month lease, and we'll quote that in writing during the inquiry. We do not bait-and-switch.
